Bartoszyce, the former Bartenstein, only a few miles far away from the russian border, is located right in the middle of the former East-Prussia. The district capital, located at the river Lyna (Alle), accommodates around 28,000 citizens and represents, because of the well developed traffic system, a junction for the tourism and goods traffic. Partnerships with different cities, also with Nienburg an der Saale, Germany, could be developed. Bartoszyce belongs to the Euro-region Baltic Sea since 1998.
