Brazil doesn't seem to be a country of immigration for the Buchhorns in recent centuries only. Brazil had a special charm for emigrants also during the 20. century.
It was not the first search for new shores for some of the below mentioned families. The were born in Volhynia (Russia/Poland). About 250.000 Germans lived in that country in 1914. Volhynia was a political plaything for the surrounding countries. During the 1st World War all Germans were forced evacuated from the area and a majority was deported to Siberia. A similar fate did they also suffer during the 2nd World War. Was this the reason for the Buchhorns to leave Volhynia and to go to Germany?
